IF NOT NOW, WHEN? A LABOR MOVEMENT PLAN TO ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

July 24, 2014 We are on a climate change path that, unless radically altered, will lead to an unsustainable global warming of seven degrees Fahrenheit or greater. We also face the most serious employment crisis since the Great Depression, with wages that have stagnated for four decades and economic inequality now at levels not seen… Read More »

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

February 20, 2013   As our country is devastated by more and more severe droughts, floods, fires, and superstorms, the public is demanding regulation of the greenhouse gasses that cause climate change.  The corporations that profit from coal, oil, and gas fear such regulation will reduce their profits and the value of their investments.  They… Read More »

NEXT STEPS FOR GLOBALIZATION FROM BELOW

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

May 13, 2011   Previous posts have described the vision laid out in the “Bejiing Declaration”on “The global economic crisis: An historic opportunity for transformation” and the specific proposals that make up its “transitional program” to move toward a “radically different kind of political and economic order.” This post looks at next steps toward realizing such… Read More »

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

They entered the village, and I don’t remember exactly what kind… Read More »

ABOUT JEREMY BRECHER

11You and I may not know each other, but I suspect there are some problems that we share -- problems like climate change, war, and injustice. For half a century I have been participating in and writing about social movements that address those problems. The purpose of this website is to share what I've learned. I hope it provides something of use to you in addressing our common problems.

For the record, I am the author of more than a dozen books on labor and social movements. I have written and/or produced more than twenty video documentaries. I have participated in movements for nuclear disarmament, civil rights, peace in Vietnam, international labor rights, global economic justice, accountability for war crimes, climate protection, and many others.
