Dear friends,
I’ve been a reader and admirer of Tim’s work since I came in the movement more than 25 years ago. So I was pleasantly surprised to find myself sitting next to him on a plane back to the U.S. from the World Social Forum in Brazil back in February. Our conversation ranged from the state of the Latin American left to the problems in the U.S. labor movement to some choice Teamster lore involving a job Tim once had driving a truck full of highly explosive materials. In just those few hours, Tim exhibited the all the warmth and that his friends and comrades will miss so much.
I’m sorry that I met him too late to get to know him. My condolences to his friends, family and loved ones.
