TIM’S BROTHER SEAN COSTELLO REMEMBERS TIM’S EARLY YEARS

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

May 1, 2010   Most of you know my brother, Tim, as a writer, trucker, fisherman, political activist, neighbor, and friend. You probably don’t know much about his childhood and early years, so I will talk briefly about our parents, growing up in Boston and Dedham, and some early experiences that shaped Tim’s thinking about… Read More »

TRANSPORTATION UNIONS AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

April 7, 2010   Transportation is the second biggest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions after electricity generation. The US transportation system alone produces more greenhouse gasses than any country in the world except China. About one half of the transportation emissions comes from commercial transportation—trucks, planes, ships, rail, and buses. The other half comes from… Read More »

LABOR AND THE CHALLENGE OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

April 1, 2010   Today the American labor movement—like the rest of American society and like labor movements throughout the world—is being forced to grapple with climate change and climate change mitigation. ABOUT JEREMY BRECHER

11You and I may not know each other, but I suspect there are some problems that we share -- problems like climate change, war, and injustice. For half a century I have been participating in and writing about social movements that address those problems. The purpose of this website is to share what I've learned. I hope it provides something of use to you in addressing our common problems.

For the record, I am the author of more than a dozen books on labor and social movements. I have written and/or produced more than twenty video documentaries. I have participated in movements for nuclear disarmament, civil rights, peace in Vietnam, international labor rights, global economic justice, accountability for war crimes, climate protection, and many others.
