THE RISE OF THE NEW POWER CO-OP MOVEMENT

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

September 28, 2010   Breakdown at Copenhagen. Climate legislation stalled. EPA regulation of greenhouse gasses threatened. Is climate protection dead? Maybe not. Climate protection has gone local. Political leaders may fiddle while the world burns, but grassroots groups around the country are organizing to cut greenhouse gas emissions and build a greener future for their… Read More »

GLOBALIZATION, NEOLIBERALISM, AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

September 11, 2010   For thirty years, global and national economies have been guided by policies of neoliberal deregulation, often known as the “Washington Consensus.” Neoliberalism has been disastrous for workers in most countries, pitting workers against each other in a race to the bottom and making it all but impossible to protect working class… Read More »

JEREMY BRECHER RESPONDS TO BOOCHIN

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

August 8, 2010   Jeremy Brecher responds to Murray Bookchin’s critical response of Brecher’s review of Bookchin’s book. Phew! Root & Branch No. 4 (1973), pp. 30-31 We all face the same problem of getting from the kind of society we have to the kind of society we want. I had hoped that Murray would… Read More »

ABOUT JEREMY BRECHER

11You and I may not know each other, but I suspect there are some problems that we share -- problems like climate change, war, and injustice. For half a century I have been participating in and writing about social movements that address those problems. The purpose of this website is to share what I've learned. I hope it provides something of use to you in addressing our common problems.

For the record, I am the author of more than a dozen books on labor and social movements. I have written and/or produced more than twenty video documentaries. I have participated in movements for nuclear disarmament, civil rights, peace in Vietnam, international labor rights, global economic justice, accountability for war crimes, climate protection, and many others.
