OPEN LETTR FROM AN AMERICAN TO THE WORLD: HELP!

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

December 1, 2001   The Bush Administration is blundering into a global conflagration. There is currently no force within the U.S. likely to stop it. It is up to the rest of the world, and especially Americans friends and allies at both governments and their citizens — to constrain its rush to disaster. The Bush… Read More »

END OF THE GLOBAL GILDED AGE

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

November 28, 2001   By Tim Costello, Brendan Smith & Jeremy Brecher   While America’s politicians and media focus on terrorism and counter-terrorism, the global gilded age is coming to an end. While advocates of globalization gloat that September 11 has silenced the critics of globalization, the emerging global recession will soon put the deep… Read More »

COLLATERAL DAMAGE: NEO-LIBERALISM

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

October 17, 2001   By Tim Costello, Brendan Smith & Jeremy Brecher   Even as they were planning military action in Afghanistan, US leaders were struggling with the contradictions of capitalism. One can almost hear them sighing, ah, if only we could bomb the recession! Capitalism is an amazingly dynamic system, but it has some… Read More »

ABOUT JEREMY BRECHER

11You and I may not know each other, but I suspect there are some problems that we share -- problems like climate change, war, and injustice. For half a century I have been participating in and writing about social movements that address those problems. The purpose of this website is to share what I've learned. I hope it provides something of use to you in addressing our common problems.

For the record, I am the author of more than a dozen books on labor and social movements. I have written and/or produced more than twenty video documentaries. I have participated in movements for nuclear disarmament, civil rights, peace in Vietnam, international labor rights, global economic justice, accountability for war crimes, climate protection, and many others.
