NOW, MORE THAN EVER: A GLOBAL MOVEMENT FOR GLOBAL JUSTICE

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

September 29, 2001   In the months before September 11, the Bush Administration undermined one effort after another to address world problems on an international basis. It skipped out on the Kyoto Protocol on global warming, scuttled efforts to control biological weapons, refused to support a war crimes tribunal, withdrew from efforts to limit nuclear… Read More »

THE ROAD FROM GENOA

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

August 18, 2001   The battle in Genoa was not only the key event in the summer of 2001, but also marked a watershed for the anti-corporate movement. From the outset, the Big Eight summit in Genoa was doomed to become nothing more than a pretext for widespread protests. It was also clear in advance… Read More »

DRAFT OF AN ALTERNATIVE PROGRAM FOR THE GLOBAL ECONOMY

Posted by Jeremy Brecher

December 18, 2000   By Tim Costello, Brendan Smith & Jeremy Brecher   Commenting on the Battle of Seattle, Newsweek wrote, “One of the most important lessons of Seattle is that there are now two visions of globalization on offer, one led by commerce, one by social activism.” Globalization from below’s vision has been articulated… Read More »

ABOUT JEREMY BRECHER

11You and I may not know each other, but I suspect there are some problems that we share -- problems like climate change, war, and injustice. For half a century I have been participating in and writing about social movements that address those problems. The purpose of this website is to share what I've learned. I hope it provides something of use to you in addressing our common problems.

For the record, I am the author of more than a dozen books on labor and social movements. I have written and/or produced more than twenty video documentaries. I have participated in movements for nuclear disarmament, civil rights, peace in Vietnam, international labor rights, global economic justice, accountability for war crimes, climate protection, and many others.
